application:

Methyl 3-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzoate is an important organic synthesis drug intermediate and is widely used in the drug synthesis industry.

preparation:

Add 10.36g 3-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzoic acid methyl ester, 15.48g potassium carbonate, 9.15g bromoethane, and 209mL acetone to a dry 250mL three-necked flask in sequence, raise the temperature to 50°C, and react under magnetic stirring for 4.5 hours. When the reaction lasted for 2 hours, 9.15g of ethyl bromide was added. After the reaction is completed, collect the product into a 250 ml round-bottomed flask, add 80 ml saturated saline and 50 mL ethyl acetate, mix, recover the filtrate, add 50 mL ethyl acetate for extraction, and distill the organic phase under reduced pressure to obtain the solid product 3-ethyl acetate.
